Don’t let the humble chicken back fool you, there’s plenty of goodness tucked into those bones. They’re a favorite for making rich, nourishing homemade broth and getting every last bit of goodness from the bird.
We love turning our chicken backs into a big pot of homemade bone broth. Add the backs to a slow cooker with onion, carrots, celery, garlic, apple cider vinegar, peppercorns, and sea salt, then let it all simmer on low for 12 hours while the house fills with the smell of something good cooking.
Once strained and cooled, the broth should be thick and beautifully gelatinous. Enjoy it by the cup or bowl, or use it as the base for soups, stews, and all sorts of cozy meals.

Our chickens spend their days outside on pasture, with fresh grass, sunshine, and plenty of room to scratch, peck, and forage for bugs. We move their mobile coops to fresh pasture every day so they can do what chickens naturally love to do, roam around and look for a good bug. We think chickens deserve a good life, and you can taste the difference.
Our birds are raised outdoors and nourished by pasture, just the way it used to be before factory farming got involved. They’re fed a locally produced, GMO-free, corn & soy free feed. No antibiotics or hormones, and no chemical treatments. Just good food from chickens with the freedom to act like chickens.
