Looking for a simple summer treat made with real ingredients? This homemade frozen yogurt is one of our favorite ways to use our Plain Raw Yogurt. It's creamy, lightly sweet, and comes together with just a handful of ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
Top it with fresh berries, peaches, or a drizzle of honey, and you've got a yummy dessert the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- (2 cups) Raw Greek Cow Yogurt for Cats & Dogs, 1 Pint in Glass
- (2-3 tablespoons) Raw Honey, 1lb
- (1/2 teaspoon) Vanilla Extract
- (a pinch) Sea Salt
- (ingredient optional - 1/4 cup) Raw Heavy Cream for Cats & Dogs, 1 Pint
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, honey, vanilla, sea salt, and optional raw cream until smooth.
- Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour. Starting with a cold base helps create a creamier frozen yogurt.
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker.
- Churn according to your ice cream maker's instructions, usually about 20–25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- Enjoy immediately for soft frozen yogurt, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1–2 hours for a firmer scoop.
Serving Ideas
Top your frozen yogurt with:
- Fresh strawberries or blueberries
- Sliced peaches
- A drizzle of honey or maple syrup
- Homemade granola
- Chopped nuts
- Fresh mint
Notes
- Chilling the mixture before churning makes for the best texture.
- Adding raw cream is optional, but it creates an even richer, creamier frozen yogurt.
- Frozen yogurt is best enjoyed fresh. If frozen overnight, let it sit on the counter for 10–15 minutes before scooping.
- Try mixing in fresh berries, peaches, or fruit preserves during the last few minutes of churning for an easy flavor variation.
- Taste the mixture before churning and add a little more honey if you'd like it sweeter.
